WORKSHOP ON ‘TIATR’

A one-day workshop on TIATR  was organized by  St.Xavier’s College, Mapusa, on  27^th January 2010  in collaboration with Tiatr Academy of Goa . Students and lecturers from olleges  and   Higher  secondary  schools   participated  in the    workshop.  The  workshop   was   held  in the  seminar  hall  of the   college   from  9.30  am  to  4.30  pm.

The  Chairman  of  Tiatr Academy  of   Goa,  Mr.  Tomazinho  Cardozo   was  the  Chief  Guest  of  the  inaugural  function which  was  also attended   by  the    Principal  of  St.  Xavier’s  College  Dr. (Fr.)  Walter  Desa, Secretary  of  Tiatr  Academy  Mr.  Victor  Desa  and  other  dignitaries  of  Tiatr Academy.  At the outset Prof. Satish   Bute, Head  of  Department   of   Konkani  welcomed   the  participants. The  workshop  was  formally   inaugurated   by  the  lighting  of  the  lamp   by   the  dignitaries   present  on  the   dais. In  his  inaugural  address   Mr.  Cardozo  explained   the  importance  of  Tiatr   in  Goan  culture.   He   said   that   there  is   an  urgent  need   for   youth  to  connect  to   tradition  of  Tiatr  and  give  new  dimension  to  this  century  old   drama  form.

Principal  Dr.  (Fr.)  Walter  Desa  conveyed  his   wishes   to  the  participants   and  thanked   the   Tiatr  Academy  for  their   support  in   conducting  the   workshop saying  that  since  drama  is  part  of  the   revised   syllabi,  the   workshop  would   be  of  great  help  for  the   students  and   faculty members.    

The   workshop   had    sessions  on   different   aspects  of  Goan   Tiatr.  The   resource   persons   for  the   1^st   session   was   well  known  tiatrist  Mr.  Premanand  Sangodkar.  He  introduced the participants to the  history  of   Goan   Tiatr.   The  second   session   was   conducted   by  Fr.  Neville  Gracias   on   the  topic   ‘Script  of   Tiatr’.  The  post   lunch  started with a entertainment   programme   by    well  known  tiatrist’s   Domnic   and  Louis Bachhan  which  was  appreciated  with  great enthusiasm by the  participants.  The  final  session   of   the    workshop   was   conducted   by  noted   tiatrist   Mr.  Anil  Kumar   on  the   topic  ‘Direction of  Tiatr’. He  shared his experiences in the field.  Students   actively   participated  in  the   interactive  sessions.  

Certificates   were   distributed   to   the  participants   in  the   valedictory   function.   The  event   was   co-ordinated   by  Prof.  Satish Bute  and Dr.   Ramita  Gurav.  The sessions  were   compered   by   Prof.  Dharma   Chodankar  and   Ms.  Gauravi   Raikar.   Prof.  Milesh  Gauns   proposed the   vote  of    thanks.
