Theatre for Transformation
The School of Languages of St. Xavier’s College, Goa in
collaboration with
Kala
Academy
, Goa will be organizing a two day National seminar on the topic
Theatre for Transformation on 14th and 15th March
2008 at
Kala Academy
, Panjim. The seminar is aimed at reviewing
the present state of this art-form and
measuring the
extent of its influences on the
life of the individual
and the society we
live in. We intend to achieve this
end with the help of the expertise
and experience of academicians and
people with a passion for
theatre.
The seminar will create an awareness of
the multi-dimensional role of theatre in
the teaching-learning process within
the sphere of education and find ways of translating this knowledge into tangible
social transformation.
Papers which address the following themes
with relation to the main theme are invited :

- Theatre as a social
critique
- Theatre and women
- Theatre and community
building
- Emerging trends
and techniques in theatre
- Folk theatre
- Experimental theatre
- Theatre as education
