“Emerging Food borne Pathogens”

ABOUT THE SEMINAR:

Increased globalization of food supply, pathogen evolution due to genetic changes, changes in food production or changing technology, use of antimicrobials for prophylaxis in animals have led to the emergence of bacterial strains resistant to multiple antibiotics by transfer of mobile virulence factors. An increased awareness of emerging pathogens, changes in food production and handling practices, improvements in microbiological detection methods will be needed to prevent the spread of emerging foodborne diseases. In view of this urgent need we are pleased to inform you that the Departments of Microbiology and Biotechnology of our college are organizing a two day seminar on 'Emerging food-borne pathogens'.

 

The seminar will comprise of Invited Lectures and Oral presentations.

The following themes would be covered:

1. Overall scenario of food borne pathogens.

2. Sea food borne pathogens.

3. Food safety measures.

4. Novel techniques & approaches for detection of food pathogens.

5. Food preservation techniques.

ORAL PRESENTATION:

The abstract for the oral presentation should be typed in MS Word with the following specifications: paper size A4,font Times New Roman,12 with single line spacing.

The Manuscript should be submitted by e-mail to latest by 16th Jan 2012. The duration of  the presentation should not exceed 15 mins.
