Seminar on Bioactive
molecules
The School of Biosciences, St. Xavier’s College Mapusa
Goa, comprising of the Departments of Microbiology, Botany and Biotechnology in
collaboration with the National Institute of Oceanography is organizing a National
level Seminar on “Recent advances in the discovery and use of Bioactive molecules”on
the 7th and 8th of March 2008, at the National Institute of
Oceanography, Dona Paula, Goa.
The Seminar will showcase papers from experts from different
disciplines which will pave the road to a better understanding of the diverse field of bioactive compounds, which play an indispensable role in every facet of our lives.
The seminar will highlight the enormous work underway
to tap the innumerable resources and explore new vistas for harnessing materials
of promising potential to mankind.
The seminar will also identify the pros and cons of large
scale usage of bioactive materials in diverse fields and also aims in sensitizing
the general public about the need to exercise caution and find out more facts and
information prior to the purchase of bioactive products.
Presentations from personnel from eminent pharmaceuticals
and other related industries would help to strengthen the link between academia
and the corporate world.
