Dr Reshma Raut Dessai, Department of Physics, delivered Sir. C. V. Raman Memorial talk on National Science Day - St. Xavier's College
On this occasion of 32nd National Science day on 28th February, at Goa Science Centre, Dr. Reshma Raut Dessai, from department of Physics, St. Xavier’s College MapusaGoa delivered Sir. C V Raman memorial talk. This day is celebrated to commemorate the discovery of Raman Effect on 28th February 1928 by the Indian physicist, Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman. For this success he was honored with the Nobel Prize in the Physics in the year 1930. To honor this event, 28th of February is observed as a National Science Day in India by the National Council for Science and Technology Communication (NCSTC). This day was celebrated at Goa Science Centre with enthusiasm. In her talk Dr. Reshma threw light on life and research activities of Sir C V Raman and also explained Raman Effect and its applications in scientific instruments and clinical diagnosis. Dr. Reshma urged student participants to consider research as career option also gave information about all the research Institutions in India. She said a creative thinking, imagination and curiosity is all that is required to become a good scientist.
