On the 23rd of February 2019, around 270 special students of St. Xaviers Academy, Old Goa accompanied by their teachers arrived on St. Xavier’s College campus for a short tour. After dividing them into groups and assigning volunteers to escort them around the campus, the tour began. Each group was shown the Language lab, where they learnt greetings in different languages like Spanish, Portuguese and French. They observed the layout of the lab and computers. Then they went to the Chemistry laboratory where they saw the various equipment and the setup. They also saw how to detect an acid and a base using litmus paper, with the color change. The group was then escorted to the Music room where the band played an action song for them to wave their hands in the air and clap. The students were most enthusiastic and had big smiles on their faces. They then proceeded to the Green house where they saw the various flowering plants.
The next stop on the tour was the library. The floor plan of the library was explained to them and the functioning briefly described. The students also got to see the creative and colorful wall art painted by students. The last stop was the Orchidarium and the aquarium. After the exhausting trip around, the students gathered in the Lobby where they played a game of Bombing the city and then had a small snack and refreshment. The Principal, Dr. Fr. Jeronimo D’silva said a few words of welcome and encouragement the gathering and in response, Fr Maverick thanked St. Xavier’s for their hospitality. The students were accompanied by Sister Monica the headmistress of the school and faculty, both teaching and non-teaching. The trip lasted just under 2 hours and with heavy hearts they made their way back to their buses. The students of F.Y. BBA T&T were an integral part of this event. They were able volunteers and cheerful guides.
