Xavier’s definitely has talent and the singing and dance competitions were proof

The Center for Performing Arts, of St. Xaviers college Mapusa, conducted its hunt for talented singers and dancers on the college campus, and they were delighted to discover a number of young men and women who surpassed the judges’ expectations. Young enthusiasts sang in the Indian and Western languages, and dancers put up scintillating acts which included classical Indian dances as well as tastefully choreographed fusion pieces. The audience cheered, while the judges themselves were drawn into the rhythm of the songs and dances. Lerissa Sawant was adjudged the Voice of Xaviers in the Indian languages category while Shona Lynn Dsilva …won the same in the Western languages category. Ms. Sarvangi Desai who wowed the audience with her high energy, and beautifully rendered lavny dance, was the days favourite, as she picked up the Xavier’s Got Talent, Dancing Champ of Xaviers for the year 2018-19, in a very tough battle with other equally fine performers. The two day event was held on the 3rd and 4th of August, 2018, preceded by two days of auditioning. The overwhelming response from the students of Xavier’s was proof that the institution is buzzing with latent creative energy, waiting to be unplugged. The Xavier’s Center for Performing Arts, through its activities will serve as a wonderful repository of high quality talent, which the college can dip into when required.

Dr. Fr. Jeronimo Da Silva, our ever supportive Principal and music lover himself could barely hide his excitement as he welcomed the staff and students to this historic event, and at the closing, expressed his genuine appreciation of the efforts put in by the young performers, the comperes, Govind and Alisha, the volunteers, the coordinators, Dr. Ramita Gurav, Fr. Ramiro Luis , Fr. Luis Gomes, Dr. Vrunda kelkar and Ms. Alice D’Cruz. He appealed to the youth to make the best of the CFPA while in college. The winners took away attractive trophies, while all participants received certificates.

Dr. Gurav proposed a fitting vote of thanks, to bring the curtains down on an exciting and memorable event.
