The International Students Club organised ‘Global Village 2018’, an inter-collegiate event , on the 20th of February 2018.The event was held in order to provide a platform for international students to showcase their talents, get involved in activities and express themselves creatively.
The event commenced with a prayer hymn seeking blessings from the Almighty . This was followed by a short video clip ‘we are the world’ projecting unity in diversity as a nation.
A panel discussion ‘many cultures, one journey –Global village’ was organized. The panel of invited guests present were Mr.Delfin (Protuguese Professor), Ms.Louise (Interior Designer) and Ms. Anna Ramogida (Italian representative and PA to Mr.Dempo) . The discussion was moderated by Ms. Jennifer lewis e Kamat ,(Chairperson, GCCI, Womens Wing). It emphasized the beauty and contrast of the diversity of beliefs ,traditions, relationships and experiences .
A short promotional video of the of the international students club ,a few steps down the memory lane was projected .The Principal of St.Xavier’s College, Dr.(Fr).Jeronimo D’silva , welcomed the gathering .
Eight Colleges participated in the event. MES college , Don Bosco college, Chowgule college, Dhempe college, Rosary college, Fr.Agnel College ,Saraswat College and Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College.
The events for the day were foreign language singing, photography, fusion dance, quiz, Mr.and Ms.Global Village 2018 and fashion show. Don Bosco College , Panjim were declared the overall winners and MES college were the runners up.
The Chief Guest for the valedictory function was Fr.Ramiro Luis, Asst.Profesoor, St.Xavier’s College, Mapusa. Fr.Ramiro encouraged students to participate in such events as it would help youngsters to compete on a platform and challenge their skills, help in team building and overall personality development .
The event concluded with the prize distribution ceremony and the vote of thanks proposed by Ms.Vanessa Furtado, Convenor of the club. The student comperes for the day were Ms. Zahira Haidary and Ms. Mina Shafaei.
