The Department of Chemistry recently organised educational visits to VerGo Clinicals, Corlim and Deccan Fine Chemicals. During the visit Ms. Ruella Fernandes, Asst. Manager Project Management, VerGo Clinicals, briefed the students on the various studies carried out at VerGo Clinicals, especially on healthy human volunteers. Whereas Mr. Amit Khare showed the students the various laboratories and the procedures that a healthy human volunteer has to undergo during the training period.
Mr. Ravi John, QA, Deccan Fine Chemicals, provided an insight to the students about the basic differences between quality control and quality assurance and the safety aspects followed. Mr. Shirodkar guided the students through the Quality Assurance Department wherein they were shown different instruments like Gas Chromatograph, High Pressure Liquid Chromatograph and the Packaging division which uses biodegradable packaging material. Ms. Deepa Somanathan guided the students through the Technology and Engineering Department wherein the students were shown the Synthesis Laboratory and the Analytical Laboratory. The visit was coordinated by Professor’s Ms. Shivta Mayenkar and Ms. Flavia Travasso.
